
Maria Joyce (née Sinnecker)
Originally from Berlin, Germany, Maria has a background in modern expressive dance, contemporary dance, dance theatre and multilingual drama.
Her training includes Tanzwerkstatt No Limit, Berlin, Germany (1988-99), Rainbow Arts, Raleigh, USA (1992-94), and Fischhaus, Fabrik Potsdam (1996-97). She was a member of the jlling-company, Tanztheaterprojekt Rostock, choreographer Peter Mann (Dampf ohne Schotter, Inside, Valium, Lorca) (2001-05) and has worked with choreographer Inma Pavon since 2006 (5.5.5 Chances, IV Wills, Inner Landscapes).
A graduate of the MA Drama and Theatre Studies, University College Cork, Ireland (2005-2006), and MA English and German Studies, University of Rostock, Germany (2000-2006), she is certified in Leading Creative and Community Dance with the Laban Guild for Movement and Dance, Belfast, N.I., kindly supported by Cork City Council (2016), and Creative Dance for Children Leadership (2011), AHAB Academy, Berlin. She completed the pilot training for Inclusive Dance Teaching and Performance with Inclusive Dance Cork (2023), among other courses.
Working as dance educator since 2015, leading classes and workshops for children and adults, she co-founded and collectively manages Collective Cork, a studio space for Yoga and Dance since 2019. She also has experience devising and choreographing for dance projects, such as the international Global Water Dances festival Cork edition (2017, 2019, 2021).
